I. PROGRAM GOALS
1. General objective:
The English language studies program aims to train graduates with foundational knowledge of English-American language, culture and literature, solid knowledge of English, and necessary skills in thinking, work organization, social communication, and knowledge transfer, to be able to work in one of the two fields of English language teaching and office management in a working environment in English.
From the overall goal, the English language studies program equips learners with the following knowledge, competencies and qualities (POs):
- Teaching – oriented students are equipped with the ability to teach English.
- Business English-oriented students are equipped with the ability of office administration.
II. PROGRAM OUTCOMES
1. Knowledge Outcomes:
PLO 1: Flexibly apply general knowledge in fields of social sciences and humanities to work practice.
PLO 2: Analyze, and synthesize fundamental knowledge in British/ American culture, society and literature, in comparison with Vietnamese culture.
PLO 3: Systematize knowledge of English linguistics in analyzing and comparing phonetic, morphological, syntactic and semantic structures to explain linguistic phenomena.
PLO 4:
- PLO 4a (for TESOL students): Flexibly combine and effectively apply knowledge in language, educational psychology, and teaching methodology in teaching English.
- PLO 4b (for Business students): Flexibly combine and effectively apply business English and management principles in office administration.
2. Skill Outcomes:
PLO 5: Practice critical, analytical, and creative thinking in problem solving at work.
PLO 6: Perform effectively in multimedia communication and teamwork.
PLO 7: Use English, second foreign languages and information technology to meet academic, research and professional demands.
PLO8:
- PLO 8a (For TESOL students): Flexibly apply modern English teaching methods, creative lesson design and assessment tools in teaching and learning activities.
- PLO 8b (For Business students): Effectively communicate, document research, organize and manage office work in commercial and service business.
3. Attitude and Awareness Outcomes:
PLO 9: Show initiative, creativity and responsibility for lifelong learning.
PLO 10: Comply with professional ethics, respect cultural and language diversity, and promote community interests.

1. Capability of teaching English at universities, colleges and high schools, especially in technical schools;
2. Ability to research and design curriculum and assessment;
3. Doing translation and interpreting work, especially in science and technology;
4. Administration of offices in economic and technical units and social organizations.
V. CAPABILITY FOR HIGHER STUDY
Graduates of English major can study at postgraduate levels at domestic and foreign institutions.
